2—Natural Wonder #1: Angel Falls or Churún Merú?
This photo is from venezuelatuya.com, a Venezuelan tourism web site. The falls are named after American aviator Jimmie Angel, who by some accounts crashed near them in 1937. It is said the local Pemone Indians knew it by the name of Churún Merú.

Angel Falls is located in Canaima National Park, Venezuela in a remote jungle. At 3,212 feet (979 metres high), it is the highest waterfall in the world. For interesting comparisons, it is 16 times the height of Niagara Falls, more than twice the height of the Empire State Building, and three times the height of the Eiffel Tower.
